About Our Ayurvedic Session
Ayurveda is one of the world’s oldest holistic healing systems, originating in India over 3,000 years ago. The word comes from Sanskrit: “ayur” meaning life and “veda” meaning knowledge—so it translates to “the science of life.” It is based on the idea that health comes from a whole-person approach, working to bring balance between the body, mind, spirit, and environment. It focuses on both prevention and the treatment of acute or chronic conditions, addresses root causes rather than surface symptoms, and uses lifestyle and rhythm as medicine. An Ayurvedic practitioner helps you discover your constitution, which is one or a combination of three doshas—Vata, Pitta, and Kapha—and then works within that framework to develop an individualized, experiential treatment plan. This may include diet and nutrition, herbal remedies, yogic practices, breathing techniques, seasonal cleansing, sleep routines, movement, and daily self-care practices.
