Dr. Nicholas Downey
About Nicholas
Dr. Downey graduated from CMCC in June of 2021. He earned a bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology (Hons) with a minor in forensic psychology from Ontario Tech University in 2016. He is a CSEP certified personal trainer and has trained general and athletic populations. He is certified in Mindsight and AODA, programs to promote awareness of mental illness and stigma and accessibility for disabled Ontarians. He has taken the concussion: prevention, detection and management course through University of Laval and University of Calgary, Concussion therapy training through SHIFT concussion, he is certified through GLA:D which is a course on based on the treatment of Hip and Knee OA, and he is certified by Together in Movement and Exercise (TIME) which focuses on classes to help individuals exercise individuals presenting with balance and mobility challenges. He is currently working with Lindsay and Brock Rugby clubs and has worked with local AAA hockey teams.
He was raised in the Kawarthas and used to compete in competitive rowing and dragon boating. He continues to stay active with snowboarding, wakeboarding, and at the gym, He spends his free time working in his garden, spends time up at the cottage, and cooking.
Lastly, he is looking forward to helping people achieve their health care goals, help with rehab and return to sport and help with optimization and recovery for a variety of sports.
