About Shivana
Shivana is a Registered Social Worker, Psychotherapist with 20+ years of experience providing holistic counselling and clinical psychotherapy for diverse communities across Ontario. Shivana graduated from York University with a Bachelor of Social Work Specialized Honours in 2007, and completed Master of Social Work courses at Toronto Metropolitan University in 2009. In 2019, Shivana completed a 6-year Shamanic Energy Medicine Apprenticeship / Mentorship Program with a Peace Elder and Medicine Person. She has delivered professional development trainings internationally to support primary health care practitioners in bridging ancient wellness practices and clinical health approaches. In her role as a Manager of Community-Based Mental Health, Shivana oversees community mental health programs providing individual and family psychotherapy, brief solution-focused psychotherapy, harm reduction programming, and peer-led holistic wellness programs.
As a practitioner, Shivana works collaboratively with clients, understanding and valuing each person’s unique strengths, gifts and wisdom. She cultivates a safe, warm and compassionate space to support clients in exploring their needs and goals, gain liberating insights, and exercise empowering strategies to transform their holistic wellness on all levels.
Shivana utilizes an integrated approach in her work, drawing on therapeutic modalities such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Dialectical Behavioural Therapy, Energy Medicine and Energy Psychology, Indigenous Social Work, Jungian Therapy, trauma-informed therapy, anti-oppression, recovery models and harm reduction. She has worked with hundreds of diverse youth, adults and families, and is passionate about being of service to support client’s healing, growth, transformation and empowerment in their lives.
